Still chipping away at the bass collection: trying to get down from 12 basses to just 4.

Next up on the chopping block is this early, made in Japan Fernandes Atlas 4X bass. IAlder body; maple neck/fingerboard. Single MM-style humbucker with series/parallel/coil-split switch. Basically, a poor-man's, MIJ version of a MM Sterling.

This bass was an impulse buy for me. Saw it at a local Guitar Center. I was blown away by the neck. It feels like a very nice Jazz Bass (my favorite). Very thin, like a Geddy Lee Jazz. The neck is straight and dead stable. No dead spots. Fretwork in great shape. Super low action without any buzzes anywhere. I couldn't put it down.

I figured I'd be a good project bass. My plan was to swap in Nordy pickups and on-board preamp, then refinish the body in a root-beer brown. But, again, I've got to clear out some space in the new apartment; can't justify keeping this one right now.

Strung with brand new Webstrings s.s. rounds (round core, 40-60-75-95 gauge), installed last night. Gave it a quick set-up. Plays like a dream. Asking just $200 plus shipping for quick sale.

The finish looks black from a distance, but if you get close and the light hits it, you can see that it's more of a carbon/graphite look with some fine metallic grain:

Comes with Dunlop straplock buttons installed. I can swap them out for Fender's Schaller-style straplocks if you prefer:

Plain and simple headstock with Fender-style tuners:

Again, I've set the price to just $200 so it'll move quickly. Not interested in trades, since the only reason I'm selling is to make some space.

If anyone wants an inexpensive MM clone, you can't do much better for the price. Anyone who plays a Jazz Bass will fall in love with the neck.

great price for MIJ quality. put a j pickup in there and you could have a pseudo Lakeland. :)

Thanks or the PM's. I'll respond today.

Yes, I've still got it. Forgot to mention that.
  7. I can't believe this thing is still here. I have the newer Made In China version and love it, but sadly paid too much for it, $229 shipped for it used, like two weeks before you listed this, I would of bought yours in a heart beat. I may list mine and buy yours LOL. The economy is so bunk now, I see things on here that I can't believe aren't gone in one day.

Co worker of mine sings the praises of the Fernandes he used to gig with. I've always liked them.

Japanese-made Fernandes are great basses. I have two, and they are among my favorites.

    Free bump.
