Reduced for quicksale: $2500obo(down from $2600 firm)
I got this bass back in March, and I love the tone, but I would still like to try some other high end basses as well. I would really love a 55-01, or a Fretless 55-02(both +cash obviously), but would also be open to Sadowsky, Valenti, Roscoe, a Modulus Q5 or Q6 w/ barts, or even a newer BN5. I Would also be very happy with a straight cash sale, because finances are tight right now. Feel free to run others by me, but keep in mind I prefer 5'er's. A 4 could grab my attention, but it would have to be super sweet. Anyways, on to the bass:

This is a Custom Shop F Bass built entirely by George Furlanetto himself. Standard F Bass electronics(in 2001) and 9v preamp, 2 humbuckers with coil tap on bridge pickup. V/V/Tone/B/M/Treble with preamp bypass switch (passive and active modes). Ash body, one piece maple birdseye neck, all Hipshot hardware, 34 1/2 scale. Chrome bridge available with bass if requested. Signed by George on the back of the headstock and dated May 10, 2001. Asking $2500obo(down from 2600) plus half of shipping costs to your destination. This is pretty much a one of a kind bass.

That description and these pics were copied and pasted from the ad I purchased it from, but everything is still the exact same.

Looks and feels like 19mm, but I"m using my iPhone ruler, so I cant be totally sure, bc it's hard to tell with the border on the iPhone. That said, I'm pretty sure it's 19mm.

This will most likely( maybe 1 more) be the last bump, before I commit to a trade offer. No modulus q5/6, Lakland 5594, or cash deals out there?

  7. A great bass........played an F bass a few months ago and was totally impressed.

I know i said final bump, but 've found the bass I want, and have decided to try reducing the price for quick sale. I'll say $2500 or best reasonable offer.

Bump for a very a nice guy, with a great bass.

I e-mail George today about the GFC line. Everything check out with what they say about it. He claimed to of made only 4 or 5. He mentioned and I quote that this bass was his entry into a more Fender looking and feeling bass. The bridge pick-up is in the '70's position as you have stated.

The one piece bird's eye maple neck is quite stunning. I don't think the pictures do this bass justice. It's been played, because it sounds awesome.

Give it some serious thought about the trade. This is a rare bird, more of a re-defined BN5.

Don't forget to add, that with all of George's basses he offers a limited lifetime warranty on all of them. Should anything go wrong, he'll gladly take a look at it.

I had George setup my 1997 F-Bass BN5 that I wanted to sell. All it took was some new strings and good setup.....and it plays incredible. Maybe you should give that a try first? String it with some LaBella Super Steps.....after that....I'd make your decision on pursuing the Lakland or Modulus.

And just one more note, George makes his owns pick-ups. There's no middleman as far as I know. I've been told recently that a lot of the higher end basses are just using branded pick-ups made by a few companies.

I know this is a great bass. Just don't give it away for the sake of wanting something that could quite possibly not be what you're after. Go A/B them if you can. I'm sure someone on here might even own a Lakland that might want to check your bass out.

C, Thanks for trying to talk me out of it!! You really are an awesome guy as well!!
You are the main trade I'm considering, but you are definitely right about this being an Awesome, Super Rare, bass with killer tone! You're allso right about the pics not doing this fretboard justice.

I'm still not sure about getting rid of it, but I have played 55-94's(first bass i ever wanted), and Q5's(owned one). Never got the 55-94, just settled for a really sweet 55-02, that I also don't wanna part with. When I finally had enough cash to upgrade to a 55-94, there weren't any that suited my fancy, and I had been seeing/hearing FBasses for a while, and then saw this one.

The only problem for me is, I will never forget when I A/Bed the 94vs02. It was when the recession was hitting hard, and I had to make a trip to Chicago, b/c no music stores were stocking them around me. The US neck was just so sweet. They are really something special, and that's what I want, and have continually wanted, the most.

I will say, this neck is right up there with the US Laklands, if not better, but I also just love the MM/J tone. I usually end up grabbing my 55-02 over this one, just b/c I love that tone. Believe me, if I can get the 55-94 without getting rid of this, thats what will happen.
The only thing that has stopped me from trading you, is that your bass sounds relatively similar to a 55-94(I know they are still very different). I love the Growl of your bass too, but if I get the 94, I might would want a different tonal option. Who knows what will happen. I sold my AJ, and have some cash in the bank, so I may be able to pull it off without selling/trading. THen I may still have major Sadowsky G.A.S.
I think G.A.S. just may be the death of me... :D :bassist:

Thread cleaned a little bit, and trade options edited. Really could use some cash right now, so I'll be more likely to accept trade offers that net me cash, or a straight sale.

I wish you could too! LOL. They definitely are awesome basses. George is one heck of a luthier. I may just keep this bass. I don't have a lot of use for it currently, but needs change pretty often, and I think I might kick myself one day when I am ready to use it, and don't have it. I'll leave it up a little longer, because I'm struggling financially.
