I have to stick with 35 inch scale unfortunately, but without a doubt this is the most well constructed, beautiful sounding and playing instrument I've ever owned. Talked to Ken Lawrence about this bass, he said it would cost about $8800 new direct, with a list over 10k. Currently strung E to C but the nut is originally cut for B to G. The B is impressive for a 33 scale.

weight is around 9 even, condition is as close to mint as you will find.
    > 33" scale, 1 3/4" nut, 19 mm string spacing, adjustable to 18-20mm
    > Claro Walnut body
    > Figured / Blackened Redwood top and headstock cap
    > Eastern Maple 3 piece neck with dual function stainless steel truss rod
    > Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with Gaboon Ebony binding
    > Grenadillo Heel Plate
    > Gaboon Ebony control cavity cover
    > Old growth Brazilian Rosewood tone block beneath the bridge
    > Paua Abalone block inlays
    > Matching Paua Abalone headstock logo w/ Ebony surround
    > Blue fibre optic side dots with on/off switch
    > Nordstrand hum-cancelling "J" pickups w/ Gaboon Ebony covers
    > Customized Glockenklang 3 band preamp
    > Tara Labs wiring
    > Protec Contigo gig bag

Only trades considered are 35 scale singlecut Elricks, Fodera's, Skjold's or Ken Lawrence. All other trade requests will be ignored.

$6495 shipped, paypal and international shipping is cool

Holy cow... what a beast! I'd love to give that thing a run...

  4. This is an absolutely beautiful bass, and portaitoftracy is one of the best guys that I have dealt with on TB. I don't think Ken gets the acclaim his basses deserve, but in a way thats a good thing as they are a great kept secret :) Best of luck on the sale/trade my friend!

OMG..I was trying to hold out for the announcement by Fodera at Namm next week and now you do this!!!

Beautiful bass, I have the pics from when it was at the Luthiers Access Group.
    Good luck with the sale...

I'm not normally drawn to high-end, boutique type basses - more of a vintage player - but that is an incredibly stunning instrument. Best of luck on the sale.

Hi Portraitoftracy, can I ask a question.

How does the Chamberbrase hold up in situations where your required to turn-up the volumne. As much as I LOVE it's design, I'm thinking that because of it's semi-acoustic nature (i.e were you to be in a rock band setting, in a small venue) it might be prone to feedback - Right or Wrong?

    Cheers..

Wrong, no feedback what so ever! Although in all honesty I would feel kind of funny showing up to a rock gig with a Chamberbass, that's why they made P basses.

Well..I got that wrong, I was certain there'd be some amount of feedback. I ask because I'd love to add a KL Cbrase II to my collection but I play with one of "THE LOUDEST" drummers you could ever wish to meet. If the KL Cbrase can cut it in a rock setting I'd gig it with no qualms at all.

I know what you mean though, the rock fraternity are a funny bunch and anything left of the "Norm" raises eyebrows.

    Thanks for the info..most appreciated.

Nice to hear Fodera owner's chiming in.
I've always admired his basses but never played one.
    I'd love to A/B a Fodera MG against a KL Cbrase II5.

I have a great appreciation for Fodera, but I've never owned one myself. I've played many of them though. I've played a couple of Ken's basses and I've never gotten over it. A Cbrase II6 is my dream bass.

Bump for a killer bass. I've played quite a bit on a Brase 6 that is simply fantastic.

I've got two killer 35's to offer, but not on your list.

Someone is going to have the bass of a lifetime.
    good luck with the sale.

I have a Brase I and it is simply the best bass I have ever played. Ken is the MAN! I have never seen one of his basses that was less than perfect!

You have had every great bass known to man (Fodera Celinder Etc.) Do you ever think you will find a bass that is "the one ":D
