I recently bought a Roscoe LG3005 and when it arrived I found out that it is a short-scale bass, well, shorter than normal. The scale length is 33" and being a person on the "bigger" side, with really big hands, it just does not fit my needs. Here are the specs:

    Ash body
    Rosewood fretboard - 23 frets
    33" scale length
    Quilted Maple top
    bartolini soapbars
3 band 18 volt bart pre
    18 mm hip shot bridge
    Roscoe case included
    7.5 pounds (bathroom scale)

This bass is in great shape, it's a dream to play, and sounds incredible. It would be perfect for anybody who's not built so much like an oaf as I am.

As far as trades, I am looking for a typical 35" scale Roscoe 5-string. Let me know what you've got.

To sell it outright, I'm asking $1700 plus shipping.

Feel free to ask any questions, I can take more pictures if you have something specific you want to see close-up.

And how about a sound clip.
Please forgive the playing, I just wanted to show that the sound is full over the whole range, even with the short scale length.
The scale goes down to C, and the rasta riff at the end lands on low B.

Why not have Keith build you a longer neck?

I never thought about that. I wonder if the body is the exact same size as a 35 incher? My guess is that they custom fit each neck to the bass it goes on. I'll PM Gard and ask what would be involved.

  9. I'm pretty sure that the bodies are the same size and that the necks are custom fit for each body.

I talked to Gard at Roscoe, and he said that a new neck won't work. Everything about this bass, the pickup placement, neck pocket, bridge location, they are all custom for the 33" length.

He also said that each neck is custom fit to the body, and a new neck, even if it were the same scale length, would cost almost as much as I'm asking for the whole bass.

    Soooo... Still for sale!

Severe GAS here, what is the nut width? I've never played a Roscoe, how would you describe the neck of this one? Yep, I have small hands...

I'm not exactly sure how the nut width is measured so I'll give you a couple choices. From one side to the other it's about 1.75", and from the center of the B string to the center of the G string, it's just a hair under 1.5". I think the first measurement is the one commonly used.

The neck on this bass is great. It has nice rounded edges and is really comfy to play. It is probably about average thickness. Thinner than a Fender, but not "wow! that's really thin!"

I can hold a dozen large eggs in one hand without stacking them on each other.

Yeah, I got out the camera last night and we only had 7 eggs in the fridge. I'll see if I can borrow some from the neighbor just for a pic.

 man, you really need a longer scale. Would you consider a trade for my 36" Andreas Shark 5 bass? Seriously! I need a shorter scale fiver...
