Well the day has arrived. I'm letting go of my beloved Jerzy Drozd Signature 5. It is a 2005 model and has been meticulously cared for. There are a couple of extremely superficial dings from normal playing. I have tried to photograph them as best I can, but even at full zoom, they are tough to see. But in the spirit of full disclosure, they are here for you to see. Otherwise, it is in tip top shape. Plays like butter and one of the best sounding basses in the mix that I've heard. An emergency at my office has forced me to come up with some money for equipment repairs. So sadly, this beautiful instrument must go.

Here is a little sample of the bass in action. I think it really fits nicely into a mix.

I'm asking $4k which includes fully insured shipping by the carrier of your choice in the ConUS. If you are anywhere near North Mississippi, let me know and a pickup and/or audition can be arranged. No trades at this time. Thanks!:)

    35" scale
    24 frets
    Spalted maple top
    Walnut core
    Burled walnut back
    Ebony fretboard
13 piece neck(maple & purpleheart, with thin wenge and maple runners)
    2mm diameter side dots
    Ebony nut (45mm)
    20" fretboard radius
JD fully adjustable bridge (spacing is set at about 18.5 right now, but can adjust either way)
JeDXS dual coil pickups with ebony covers
    Aguilar OBP-3 preamp
    Schaller straplocks
9.5lbs according to my bathroom scale
    JD hard (TKL sty) case

the dings: VERY hard to see even with the naked eye, and none go beyond the clear coat.

DANG! Jerzy sure knows how to make a great bass.

This is one that you'll not see many of, with the dual truss rods, and the straight Jazz-like pickups not to mention a neck-through. And don't get me started on the woods. . . DANG!
  4. Wow! What a great tune!!!!

Oh, and the bass looks really nice.

  5. BUMP!

The signatures are indeed as rare as hens teeth. I know Jerzy doesn't make many of them due to the amount of labor that goes into them. It is an incredible piece of workmanship. Anyone who's ever picked it up has immediately fallen in love.

Thanks man! That's a little arrangement of Summertime I did a while back for my jazz/fusion group.

I had a question about the slap tone. I'm not much of a slap guy, but I found an old recording of some slap at the beginning of the clip, then dug in a bit more for the rest of the track for a little bit more grit in the tone. Here ya go!:)

    Hey thanks Brian.

Yea since the last time I called you, I had pretty much decided to keep the bass. But then a digital x-ray unit went out at my clinic and the repair bill is astronomical. You'll probably see some more of my gear pop up for sale to help me ease the pain. Happy thanksgiving!
