Here’s a stunning 2011 StingRay SLO Special for sale, in cherry burst with a maple board and matching headstock. The bass is in A1 mint condition, except for scratching on the black pickguard and a tiny, out-of-the-way scuff noted later in this thread. This is one of the lightest StingRays or SLO Specials you’ll find: 8 pounds 10.9 ounces on my digital scale!

As you probably know, the SLO Special is a StingRay, only with the more slender Sterling neck instead of the traditional chunky StingRay neck. The neck on this SLO Special feels a wee bit fuller than Sterling necks I’ve played, which in my opinion is a good thing. This neck (non-gloss) is pretty much perfect. Nut width is 1.5".

The photos don’t really capture the gorgeous color of this pristine bass. Photos of cherry burst instruments often tint toward brown, but this bass has a rich, true cherry hue, striped by the beautiful wood grain. The maple neck is as pretty as it plays. If you think this bass looks good, wait till you hear her.

Controls are volume, treble, midrange, bass. Action is sweet and low. I will ship the bass with your choice of strings: The LaBella 760FL flats on her now (surprised me how great a Ray sounds with flats) or RotoSound Swing Bass 66 nickels. Strap-Loks are installed on the bass.

Incredibly comfortable weight for a Ray...

 

This bass will make someone very happy...

 

After holding the bass up at various angles to the light for several more minutes, I noticed this tiny scratch/scuff above the bridge (probably from a string). Very difficult to photograph. That's it folks. Other than the pickguard scratching, this bass is 100% pristine. (Amazing there isn't even a single scratch or swirl on the back from a belt.)

Some more information about this bass. I bought her from Bass Central on Aug. 27, 2012 for $1400 (which I got marked down from $1500). The low action you can achieve on this StingRay with no buzzing is one of the most remarkable I've ever seen.
