Time has come to move on from this fine bass. I've enjoyed it but it needs to be in better hands and get more love.
It's a fretted five string with a rare 34" scale.
The bass has an one piece Ash body, Padauk top, Colobolo fingerboard and crazy flamed/birdseye Maple neck.

It's in excellent condition. Will ship safe and secure in a Fender hard case. Currently strung with LaBella Deep Talkin' Black Nylon Tape Wounds BEADG. Also have a C in the same type of string that came with the bass originally that I will include if you want to string EADGC. I did nothing to the nut when I strung it lower so it will go right back no problem.

The price on this bass is $1,750 shipped CONUS.

I will trade straight up for a Fender Roscoe Beck V only, preferably teal or shoreline gold. :)

  2. Whew! If I didn't have my fretted Mouse, I'd jump all over this.

Beautiful, and a good price. For those who want a woody, organic, bloomy, fat 'DBish' tone, and don't play fretless, THIS is the bass. Great for the 'unplugged' sort of gigs!

    Bump!

When I read the title, I thought "I had one of those. You don't see them too often." Then I saw the pic and it was "I had that one!"

Very unique sound and easy to play. Whoever buys this will not be disappointed.

    Good luck with the sale.

That's a beauty, though I'll bet the top is walnut rather than paduak, not that it really matters much. GLWTS, DM

    You'd bet but you'd be wrong. :)
Rob made this special for a friend of his but didn't realize his friend wanted a fretless so it went on the market - per an email exchange I had with him. It's padauk.

Yep, looks like padauk, which will go a bit brown over time, depending on what finish is applied to it, and how much direct sunlight it sees, etc.

Actually in the photo, the top wood could almost be mistaken for African Mahogany as well.

Insane maple on the neck. It out-roasts the Ernie Ball fire roasters.

I stand corrected. Never seen paduak with such bold striping. I have a Mouse with a paduak top that has much more subtle grain and is more "orange-y" in color. Regardless, again, a beauty. I used to have a 34" fretted 5 and they are the schizz - those mandolin frets with the labellas are almost like playing a fretless in terms of tone and mwah.

The bass is piezo. I will try to get exact weight but 6 or 7 lbs at the most I would have to believe. Body's chambered, it's light.
Only trade interest is the Roscoe Beck V, sorry.

How is the balance? Any neck dive?

Catching up on PMs. Neck dive is not an issue.
