    Why do we sell our favorite basses? In this case, it's because I just bought a house and need some capital.

    One year old, essentially in brand-new condition, Sadowsky Metro UV70 5-string with Sadowsky single-coil pickups and the Vintage Tone Control. Maple board, bound and blocked. I haven't even changed strings or the battery in the electronics since I purchased it. It's gorgeous. There is some slight wear on the pickguard under the G-string, but I was unable to capture it in the photos.

    Includes the Sadowsky soft/hard case in which it came. $1950 + half shipping in the continental US. PayPal echeck, MO, cashier's check OK (am I the only one who thinks it's worth it to waddle down to the bank or post office in order to keep PayPal from bilking all of us?).

    See post #19 for trade information.

    Man. . . been looking for this exact bass for a while. If only you wanted a boutique 6 instead. If mine sells, consider this taken.

    Yuck! :).

    Great bass...love mine.

    Actually, this is a great price for this bass, too. The SC pups are definitely a treat.

    I had the pleasure of hearing one of my students play on this bass tonight. He's a serious player, using a Lakland Skyline 5, and he's been looking for "that sound." The Marcus Miller/clear as a bell, fat as hell thing. He played one note and said "Oh! That's where it is! Not in preamps or cabinets or pedals, but in...this bass!"

    Too bad he's broke, like most students...

  11. Bump for a wicked cool bass. All the best with the sale.

    Sometimes my playing can be a little...idiosyncratic. Or at least long-winded. But bear with me.
    All clips are live, through a Bergantino IP112/EX112 rig. Preamp as noted. I always run the bass passive, and the VTC is completely off in these examples.

    1) w/Read Purity: a fairly good example of the kind of tonal variety you can get with just your fingers on this bass:

    2) w/Demeter HBP-1-H: a short clip of the growly bridge pickup:

    http://web.mac.com/majallen/iWeb/Site 10/Black Market.html

    3) w/Read Purity: the "basic sound" of this bass, EQ bypassed on the preamp:

    4) w/Demeter HBP-1-H: with the action a bit lower, the nastiness really comes out easily:

  14. Jeremy, thanks for sharing those clips. Terrific playing, and I love the sound of the bass. Here's an "I wish I had the Samolians" bump...I'd buy this one just on principle. :D

    Great playing, sir. And tone.

    Is this fine example VVT or blend?

    Thanks for the compliments, guys! This one is volume, blend, VTC/active toggle, and stacked bass/treble for when it's in active mode.

    Still available, although I haven't been bumping it because someone seems to be trying to make it happen.

    Still waiting just a bit more to see if Buyer #1 can swing it. In the meantime, I've had my head turned by several nice trade offers. I'm still looking for cash first, but in fairness to the people who've offered trades to which I've given serious consideration I suppose I should offer some genuine trade requests. Considering that, upon selling this bass and raising some more funds, I was going to have the guy who made my fretless bass (that's the one, on the home page) make me a bass around this 27-fret 5-string Moses neck I acquired in a trade, I should say that I'll consider:
    * 5 stringers, with:
    * 34" scale, and:
    * 24 frets (or more), preferably with:
    * not Bartolini pickups, and if the electronics are active hopefully they can:
    * be defeated.

    I've got an old P-bass. I've got a boutique fretless. Now I want something that just sounds gorgeous, like a grand piano or a cello, and I don't care how many bells and whistles or what kind of insanely rotted (I mean "spalted," sorry) wood it has. I'm looking for the Hadrien Feraud/Dominique DiPiazza/Richard Bona/Janek Gwizdala/Matt Garrison solo instrument sound, but I don't get hung up on the surface features. I was going to have my friend build one (eventually). But if it comes along now, I suppose I can save a step.

    Thanks...

  20. My bass has Fodera written all over it.....
