I'm a little sad about this - it's time for my beloved ThunderChief to go to someone else. I've switched over to five strings, and was able to pick up a CB105C to replace her.

Beautiful 2002 production (pre-Fender) bass in fantastic shape with factory hard case. This is the one that comes with no electronics, so no gaping hole in the side. I installed a K&K Pure Bass pickup using an endpin jack - Tacoma is smart enough to pre-drill all of their basses for an endpin jack, so no surgery was needed. I usually jack this right into my amp - it's plenty hot, and I prefer the tone to undersaddle piezos. No battery is required - it's totally passive.

It's always worn LaBella nylon tapes, so there's no fretwear at all. Back of neck is perfect, as is the rest of the bass with the exception of one small (BB sized) edge ding on the upper bout - see picture. There are three small finish cracks along the grain of the top from this ding. The ding was looked at by a local luthier, and was stabilized just in case. It was minor enough that he didn't even charge me to do it, and it's been stable for these last four years.

Reduced to $600 plus shipping, estimated at $40. (I only ship using new boxes, and it will be professionally packed.) Local pickup would be even better! PM me if you have any questions - thanks!

Last one, showing the edge ding. The finish cracks run downward from the circled area - they're only an inch or two long, and have been stabilized by a luthier.

    Thanks for looking!

  6. Did it used to have a pickguard on it? I see some kind of outline in the middle.

im just telling you this is a Tacoma owner...

that IS the pickguard. Thunderchief pickguard's are clear and hardly noticable in most pictures; but I virtually guarantee every chief has a Pickguard, and one like that noless.
