    Both basses are gone. Thanks!

    Hi,

I have two TBC basses for sale. Both are in good condition and have been played less than 20 hours each and have never left my apartment. They each have a couple of scratches and dents which I couldn't get to show up in photos. (They are french polished, and the wood scratches very easily.) Both are 34" scale, with swamp ash body, maple neck, pau ferro fretboard, and 19mm spacing at the bridge.

The first is an AP-500 Single M five string. 8 lbs 8 oz.

    114261301-M.

There's a funny thing with the jackplate and string retainer where the chrome has rubbed off in a fingerprint pattern. I'm guessing someone at the factory has very acidic sweat or something. :p Here's a photo of the jackplate:

    114261194-M.

Also, just so you know, one of the neck screw heads is a little smooshed from when a screwdriver slipped. It works fine, but there are some sharp burrs so I keep it covered with masking tape.

The second bass is a JT-400 JJ four string. 7 lbs 11 oz.

    114262563-M.

The nut was slotted very badly when I received it so Jack Wilson of TBC sent me a new nut. Unfortunately, it's about 1/32" too short on either side. If you look at the shadow, you can clearly see that the nut is not quite wide enough:

    114262494-M.

It seems to work fine, but it's a little ugly, so you may want to have a professional install a new nut. (I installed the current one myself and it's not exactly the cleanest job in the world. :p ) Also, you'll see in that photo how the strings break to the bass side a bit. I believe this is just another cosmetic issue.

More pics of the AP-500 here. (Strap not included!)
More pics of the JT-400 here. The first two shots of the headstock are with the original nut.

Both basses come with a nice TBC gigbag, allen wrenches, extra nut, and certificate. The AP-500 has a new set of D'addario XLs. The JT-400 has the factory strings.

$240 each, shipped to the lower 48. Postal money order, please.

I'm not interested in trades at this time.

    Thanks.

Kinda weird question....how are they routed beneath the pickguard? do the routes follow the pickups or are they routed out into the control cavity?

    Thanks,

My question is how you get the pickguard off :p

I'm considering jumpin on one of these, but it'd require me to sell one of mine because of my parents.

Good luck on the salke of these; I'm sure they'll go pretty quick :)

The "pickguard" is glued to the body, so it's really a rear routed bass. The routes follow the pickups. You can see the control cavity here:

    114262182-M.

The cavity covers are made out of wood too.

Is that five string 34" or 35"? It sure looks great, for $240, I don't see how you could go wrong!

    You can't go wrong.
It's my favorite bass I've ever laid hands on. I keep thinking that maybe I should upgrade the pre-amp, but I can't find enough fault with it to warrant the cost. :D
