Another one bites the dust. For sale is an excellent American made USA G&L SB-2 in a solid black finish. No major scratches or dings--just a few wear marks on the headstock and back of body. Pretty good for an older bass. Think of these as supercharged PJ basses. I'm not exactly sure of the year, but it has a bi-cut neck along with a 3-bolt neck plate, so it's probably an early 90s. $650 FIRM shipped CONUS.

This one comes with a jazz neck, beautiful rosewood fretboard with abalone inlays, two MFD PJ pickups designed by the late Leo Fender himself, alder body, bi-cut maple neck (which resists warping), 3-bolt neck with microtilt, saddle lock bridge, and all American electronics. The simple two volume knob configuration with no tone knob allows you to control exactly how much of each pickup you want, without a tone capacitor to muffle your sound. Leave that for the EQ on your amplifier. The slap tone is amazing! Sort of like a Stingray sound, but with passive electronics.

These older G&L basses are highly sought after for many innovations made by Leo Fender. Newer G&Ls lose some of these due to BBE Sound (the new owners) switching over to CNC production. This isn't to trash the newer G&Ls (my 2002 Comanche is awesome), but this one is Leo's original creation as he intended.

My postal scale says 8.87 lbs. The nut width is indeed 1.5 inches like a jazz bass. The action is pretty low. Really great for slapping or fast fingerstyle. I can probably even make it go lower, but it's not my preference. The bass is really nicely balanced (I can hold it by one hand on the contour) also. And no, I've never tried flats on it. I'm a roundwound guy :bag:
