My 2008 American Standard P5 in almost mint condition. Has a couple of blemishes to the side of the body that are minimally visible – not through the paint. Has a set of Smith Bass Burner Nicklewound Tapercore roundwounds and Dunlop strap lock buttons (will throw the old strap buttons in as well). I also have a set of DR Hi-Beam flats that came on the bass…will include these. Comes with the SKB hard shell case (with TSA locks) and the case candy (less the Fender strap).

ONLY TRADE FOR A LAKLAND 55-02.

I have the EXACT same bass and I must say that 2008 American Standards are incredible. The new tuners, bridge, etc... much better than the 2007 and prior model IMO. Plus the white/tort/rosewood combinition looks great IMO.

Old school P bass tone with the added bonus of a B string!

Yup! It really is a well-built P-bass with a fifth string (to quote Ed Friedland). I was listening to the intro to "I'm a Man" by CTA (Chicago), Pete C. on bass...to me, that's the quintessential P-bass sound. The problem is, for me, I prefer a jazz bass/two pickup tone...less thump, more growl. I’ve known this for awhile, but the true P-bass tone verified it for me. This is too nice a bass to just hang on my wall and use for recording. Who has a Lakland they want to trade me?

Well, I just played this bass for the last hour + and it is no longer for sale. I have a potential trade in the works and will consider other 55-02 trades, but if nothing materializes then I will keep it. Not willing to give a bass of this quality away in this crappy economy.

Too many nice bases for sale, trade, etc. So back to for trade or bust.
