    Now for sale or trade:
Lakland USA made 44-60 Joe Osborn 4-string bass, in lake placid blue, alder body with rosewood fingerboard, pearl blocks and binding (an $800 factory option), in nearly brand new condition - almost dead mint. Built in 2011, I purchased this bass locally from the original owner who almost never played it. It looks and feels brand new. The action is low and the neck plays beautifully, as you would expect.

After carefully going over the entire bass looking for damage and wear, I only found three issues. It has a small abrasion from the E string winding and some finish imperfection above the nut where the fingerboard slopes down to the headstock. It has a barely perceptible finish imperfection in the back of the headstock that doesn't show in a photo. It has an extremely small, somewhat circular scratch in the clearcoat (only) on the back of the body near the neck bolts that is difficult to see in the photo, but I took one anyway. Other than some faint scratching on the pickguard, that's it. The headstock is otherwise perfect, the tuners look brand new, and there is essentially zero fret wear - the tops of the frets were hardly even shiny from play. It looked like the original strings were still on it.

The original chrome pickup cover and screws come with the bass. No case candy, but the original truss wrench is included.

The original cream colored HS case has been moved around some so its condition is very good, but there are a few scuffs and marks. The interior of the case looks new.

    Specs:
Lakland 44-60 Joe Osborn - US made 4-string 'Vintage J'
    Lake placid blue
    34" scale
    Bone nut
    1.5 nut width
    Alder body
    Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard
Pearl block inlays and binding ($800 factory option)
    Lakland pickups
    Passive - no preamp option
Weight: 8lbs. 8oz. on my digital scale.

    Photos HERE.

Asking $2,200 plus shipping, CONUS only. Paypal OK.

Trades: Looking primarily for a Sadowsky NYC 4 or 5 string JJ, or maybe a Nordy. Might consider a Sadowsky Metro 4-string. Cash +/- to cover the balance.
    Thanks for looking.

I'm feeling faint, in the way one does when one has seen his/her dream bass.

Not in my league, but a beautiful bass!

I'm curious - how are the 2 stacked controls configured?

The controls are Vol/Tone (neck), Vol/Tone (bridge).

Ever seen The Decemberists and bassist Nate Query? He plays one that looks just like this. Makes me drool.

In addition to my primary interest Sadowsky NYC and Nordy basses, I might consider the right Sadowsky Metro 4-string, or the right Lull 4-string. Any trade would be balanced with cash on either side, if needed.

    Thanks for looking.

  10. Trade value? I'd trade you my EBMM Sterling H + cash for it

Thanks for the offer, but I'm a J bass guy.

  12. So am I, part of the reason I'm trying to get rid of this Sterling. It's crazy how well your Lakland matches with the Frankenbass I built, though mine is a P/J. Good luck with your trade! :)

Tough call. At the moment I'd say $2300 or thereabouts given the condition and the blocks & binding option.

If you've got a Nordy or a Sadowsky, PM me & we can talk.

I've located the original chrome pickup cover and screws for the neck pickup and they will ship with the bass.

    Thanks for looking.

I am seriously considering this. Do you have a black pickguard for it by chance?
