Looking for trades on this CIJ Fender Sting Model. (Or now for sale for $550 shipped.) Nice version of the single-coil P bass, with the signature block at the 12th fret of course. I love the look of these basses, and I may keep it because I dig the sound too. But as a gigging bassist, I always go to my split coil P's. So that's mostly where my trade interest lies: Precisions. MIJ, MIA, Frankenfenders, JVs, etc. Might also consider partial trades for a nice but less valuable P bass, or a lightweight powerful amp. Condition: certainly not mint. Has its share of dings and scratches when you look closely. A couple scratches at the 10th fret, some on the headstock, lots on the body. It's got wear. Nothing terrible, but I believe that full disclosure is the secret to a good reputation. In that interest, let's see...the knobs don't quite match each other, but they're close. Plays well; action is pretty low right now. I've always found that the tone control on SCPB's makes less overall difference than it does on a split coil, and that's the case here. A very small amount of scratchiness in the pots when turned, but could be easily cleaned I'm sure. I think that's it for now. Pics coming. Hit me with some offers and questions. Thanks for looking!
Forgot to mention: no case included, but will be packed well. Also (file under "long shot"): I would gladly trade this for one of the CIJ blue flower or pink paisley reissues. Yeah, I know.
All PMs should be answered now. Nothing like I'm looking for just yet - keep em coming. Heading out to a gig now, so any incoming inquiries may not be answered til tomorrow. Thanks for the interest so far! #saturday night
The pic below is intended to show the marks at the 10th fret. Hard to capture, even in a focused pic. Considering selling this for cash too, but will give it a little longer for trade options first. Trade interests: MIJ Fender P's MIA Fender P's MIJ Squier P's Tele Basses of different kinds (blue flower reissues, Modern Player series, etc.) Older G&L's (like the SB-1 advertised on here) Vintage Fender bodies or necks Lawsuit P's (Tokai, etc.) Other interesting vintage basses? (Maybe cheaper P basses plus cash) Obviously some things would be +/- cash on either end, but we can discuss that.
Like I said, it's been played. If you want mint, buy a new one. I think this one should be valued at about $575. So I guess I'll make this a sale or trade thread, with that price.
Monday bump! Finals week. I have a couple trade offers that may be workable, but I'm especially interested in either a cash deal, OR trading this bass plus cash for a late '70s/early '80s P bass (changed parts, refins, frankenbasses are cool with me).
These are nice basses. But why in gods name did fender put that 12th fret marker with Stings name there ? Without that this bass would shine.
It's a valid point - I'm no huge fan of anyone's "signature" on an instrument. Although I doubt anyone but the TB regulars would even notice that or have any idea what it is. It's really just a nice Japan-built '53 reissue.
Wow, went to bed early last night and woke up to all kinds of PMs on this. Nothing firm yet, still available.
Couple good trade offers, and I may jump on one of them soon. But one more bump for any cash or trade offers before I figure out what to do with this one!
