Up for grabs is my recently acquired Gould 5. Thought it would be a nice companion for my Modulus Genesis 5 but, alas, its a little too lively for my needs. Here's what I know about it:

Body: 2 piece alder with a thick quilted cap, ruby red finish
    Neck: graphite with truss rod
Fingerboard: pau ferro, sealed. 24 frets, minimal wear
    Nut: graphite
Tuners: Hipshot Ultralites installed by yours truly.
    Bridge: Hipshot quick-release
    Strap Pins: Dunlop locking
    Pickups: Basslines soapbars
Preamp: EMG 3 band with sweepable mids
Strings: D'addario Pro Steels, new / never gigged
    Case: Road Runner soft-sided hardcase
    Weight: 9.5 lbs

Functionally, the bass is 10 / 10. Cosmetically, I'd give it an 8-8.5 / 10. I've done a little work on it including:

*Replaced Gotoh tuners with Hipshots. You may have the originals if you'd like.

*Replaced cheap plastic knobs with AllParts barrel knobs (metal).

*Replaced battery clip / box and resoldered all wiring (lots of cold joints and a questionable ground).

*Small epoxy / graphite repair of the B tuner "anchor" screw (stripped). Hidden by the tuner body.

There are assorted scratches on the body, back > front, which I've minimized with Scratch-X and Zymol wax. There is a also a slight discoloration / darkening of the fretboard near the frets following cleaning; I'm sure it will lighten with time. I have a tendency to be over-critical but, honestly, she really looks nice and plays like a dream.

    GGouldFullFront-1.

    GGouldBack-1.

    GGouldBodyFront.

    GGouldBodyBack.

    GGouldNeckFront.

    GGouldNeckBack.

So here's the deal: I'm asking $1300 OBO shipped but will entertain any trade offers. I'm always on the lookout for lighter weight (< 9 lbs), well-balanced 5 bangers. Cash +/- for the right bass. Sorry, I have no need for any addt'l amp or recording gear! Face it...nobody has a lot of cash nowadays so if you have a midrange instrument and would like to trade up, send me a PM.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

That is a beautiful Bass...if it had black hardware it would be off the hook...

    Hey Riis!

How about a Peavey GV? It's not nearly as lively, I'll wager.

I'd almost offer you my Lull M5...but you might take me up on it!

    Bump for a great guy!

Well. I did replace the chrome neck-mount, battery clip, and control cavity screws with black ones not to mention the ka-nobs. Tell ya what...if you buy it, I'll throw in an almost-new can of Krylon that I used to touch up the Weber kettle this summer.

    Some FAQ's:

    Tone?

The top end is a little softer than one would imagine. The low end is well defined, almost sounds slightly compressed. The Basslines soapbars and EMG pre complement each other nicely. One of the better onboard sweepable mid's IMO.

    Cash / Trade Offers?

I'll consider all cash offers but, please, no low-balling. I appreciate a great deal as much as the next guy but I can't give the silly thing away. I'm always on the lookout for used midrange gear in good / excellent condition...Carvin, Peavey, Yamaha, etc. You get the idea.

Who is the "Ninja" in the photo?

That would be my neighbor, Garland.

    Thanks

Maybe this will make the deal a little more attractive. Still entertaining any trade offers as well.

    Thanks
