FTP site/method for Band Sets

Discussion in 'Recording Gear and Equipment [BG]' started by MNAirHead, Jan 13, 2009.

  1. Long story short, we need a file sharing site to post our material.

I have a website, our main person does not.. she attaches 10meg attachments to the files.

Any suggestions of how/where to post files? (I always use a private ftp: site.)

Are you just trying to email files back and forth and the files are too large? If so, try yousendit.com. It is free and lets you send huge files that the person can then go and download.

oh, ok!! i was actually asking around about it because there are no prices on the site (unless i'm stoopid)

so it's stable and doesn't crash?? apple's mobileme is a huge joke with its iDisk.. i ran a google on this stuff and people said to look at getdropbox..

    what are the prices? :)

  9. You get 2GB for free. As for stability, I've never seen it crash.

  10. Challenge is that I'm playing with a really shaky folk lady.. she records all of our material and then will release them via email (2x2.5 meg).. If I'm not on top of it, I can have gigs of content overflowing my box.

We're trying to start a 62-67 pop band.. I'm a freak for having all of the BPM, KEY, Chart, Youtube Links etc all in one place..

  11. 2x2.5MB is nothing. You could put those in there 400 times before you run out of space.

My band uses Dropbox to store our in-process studio recordings, misc documents, recordings of performances, charts, other recordings, links, and proposed setlists. 2GB is ample for storing all of that stuff.

  12. Sorry.. the clarification..

My inbasket (email) is used for multiple things.. it's common for it to be filled..

I'll check into their bandwidth requirements etc.. over the past, I've recevied 10megs in a few days.
