Fulltone RTO - Robin Trower Overdrive (w/ Soundbyte)

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by War Pig, Aug 10, 2012.

  1. Just got one of these yesterday. Works well for what I wanted it for. Tight, midrangey dynamic overdrive with good sustain and clarity. It does cut low end, of course, being a guitar pedal, but at the settings I use it gives me the sound I want. I'm attaching a soundbyte of it here... goes 1. Effect Bypassed 2. Effect on, bass volume knob at 85-90% 3. Effect on, bass volume knob at full. My complaint about Fulltone pedals is that they almost sound too gourmet, but this thing really responds to my playing exactly how I want.

If you use an OCD and want something with overall less gain, warmer tone, and more headroom, this pedal is the way to go. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up!

Nice "hair" on the tone. I like it...I think overdrive is something that should just "raise" the impact of the fundamentals of your tone through grit instead of laying a new tone over it like a distortion. This sounds like it's doing that!

i have a clone of one of these. I prefered the OCD.
but it is a nice sound.
  6. Thanks guys. I've moved on from this pedal, trying a bunch of stuff right now. Next going to try a Red Llama variant.
