"what is hip" by tower of power.

I guess...it's a little more groovy and less funky, but damn, it's hip.

and there is a jaco song called amelia, the basic bassline is easy, and the structure leaves it open for loads of fun jamming.

Dude, he said not so difficult lines..:D :D

Brick House is always a crowd pleaser, and easy.

Also, buy The Best of the Meters and learn every line on there.

Yeah, anything by the meters is good.

Flea is a pretty funky cat, and his lines are usually not too hard to do. "Walkabout", "Sir Psycho Sexy", and "Walkin' Down the Road" are good, funky Peppers tunes.

    ...that's "Funk", huh?

    ;)

Anyway, that does remind me of what I was playing back in my high school 'garage' band...other tunes from our then-set list in a do-able vibe:

    "Fire"-The Ohio Players
    "Skin Tight"-The Ohio Players
    "Pick Up The Pieces"-AWB
    "Cut The Cake"-AWB
    "School Boy Crush"-AWB
    "Groovin' The Night Away"-AWB
    "Dazz"-Brick
    "Groove Me"-King Floyd

There is a song called "the 3 sisters" on john scofields "bump" album.

Chris wood on bass, Very very groovy line!

I third that notion, anything by the meters.

Victor wooten's "bro john" very simple line, and very groovy.

and of course, a very easily funkified line "mario bros. underground theme"

  20. Cissy Strut by the Meters, no wait. ANYTHING by the meters, lol. If you love funk you will love the funky meters. Im quite fond of Sir Psycho Sexy and the short slap solo in "Aeroplane" by flea. I actually wrote it out.. (not in tab form though) but ill search for it if you want me to. its really funky and fun to play for if your drummer isn't able to play for a short period of time.... (grumbles a bit) Ill stop before i start flaming our drummer..
