hey could anyone recommend me a good book with funky riffs/songs (bass) i can practice my ass off with? im looking for fingerpicking style and slapped music. the riffs should be for advanced players cus i want to start a excessive practicing episode in my bass career
http://www.slapit.com/ http://www.js3jazz.com/store.htm http://www.bkstore.com/berklee/fac/vitti.html My favorite: http://www.anthonyvitti.com/fingerfunkvol1.html
i'll second the anthony vitti books, some of the most challenging reading i've come across. he's a great teacher...i had a hip hop bass lab with him last semester and i'm studying with him next semester. www.anthonyvitti.com
work your but of to either (or both) the essential jaco pastorious, or victor wootens new book. both are great, and you will lave LOTS to work on for a long time
2db/nightmarcher: thx, i heard of slapit, too and hope i can buy it from amazon cus i live in germany. ill check out the vitti books either but havent found them on amazon yet, perhaps i can get it from a musicstore furiously: yeah i already have a portrait of jaco (a solos collection) and its awesome heavy. its quite hard to play 16th throughout at a speed of 170bpm lolol . and i already know the victor wooten book. his stuff is great but he also taps alot and i cant tap
Standing in the Shadows of Motown (the book) has dozens of Jamerson transcriptions, which have funk beyond funk.
hey i ordered slap it from my music store now, but the vitti books neither are listed nor registered in german market anyone knows how to get them in germany or do u know any other good teaching books for fingerpicking?
70's disco and funk by josquin de pres (Hal leonard) - fingerstyle. For slap check out 'progressive slap' by stephan Richter (Hal Leonard). 'A dictionary of bass grooves' by Sean Malone has some good funk stuff in the back aswell (Hal Leonard I think, check his site www.SeanMalone.com ).
Funk Fusion Bass by Jon Liebman is a great fingerstyle book and his slap book Funk Bass is also very good. The Anthony Vitti fingertsyle book is another good one.
hey i really want to buy that vitti books but i live in germany and i dont know how to pay them. everytime i ask them per mail how that money order works they keep on tellin me that i should pay per money order lol. can anybody help me please? edit: i hate germany!
Find out where the next American Express shop is. You can get an International Money Order there, but the fees are outrageous. Grüße aus Kölle!
Here in the States, a money order is a note from the Post Office that can be turned in for cash with no problems. It can't bounce due to insufficirnt funds and the like. A bank draft is similar, and may be done in the currency of another country. You can also do American Express, but they'll be expensive. Either way, the seller doesn't have to deal with a personal check, which may not be always reliable as all business owners know. Germany ain't bad. All I remember is beer and girls from my visit there.
@ 20db: quote: Germany ain't bad. All I remember is beer and girls from my visit there ->no problem, i just have to deal with a problem now that makes me veryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryvery, very angry
