I have been a member since 2008, and in all my years of selling, this is the funniest reason for not buying after expressing a heartfelt interest and asking for a plethora of pictures and even inquiring the serial to see if the instrument was as vintage as I said it was. Are you ready for this? The so-called buyer said he didn't like the 15 pictures that I sent him, and that they were "LOW RESOLUTION". That was his reason for not buying the bass. Chime in if you have any other funny excuses for NOT buying a bass after they have expressed special interest. Thanks!

Any chance he was just asking for higher res pictures?

Absolutely , would you consider an 800.00 smartphone camera to take low resolution pictures? If so, guilty as charged!

Technically... I would indeed classify 480x640 96dpi pictures as low-res. However, they seem to get the job done. Buyer probably just wanted an out, and that was the extent of his creativity. :p

I really enjoy the quick wit of my fellow bassist, this forum should be about fun, exchanging ideas, and saving money, instead I get all the nay-sayers!

By these forums' standards I'm even worse... a marketer! Ad agencies put little faith in degrees though, so thankfully my education was relatively brief as far as the professional world goes.

I wish I could express myself better, it would save me a lot of hard knocks, as well as misunderstandings!

  13. Funniest I got was “the action looks high”

First of all it was funny because it was on a 6 string bass that I actually had set up with lower action than I normally prefer. Dudes stage name is probably buzz lightyear.

Secondly it was funny because the neck was straight and clearly showed in pictures. So the action was easily adjustable for anyone who knows anything about bass guitars.

Those look high res enough to show the condition of the bass. People like to see some overall shots, then closeups. There’s a thread on using a camera to photograph basses, which apparently I haven’t read thoroughly, because I SUCK at bass photography. It’s marketing though, if you want to sell something, worth getting the best out of a cellphone. Even the point and shoot camera most people have gathering dust in a drawer someplace will probably do a better job than a phone.

Probably dodged a bullet. If those pics aren't good enough, odds are he would have found something "wrong" with the bass if he bought it.
