No, not a thread for GK amp enthusiasts; we’re talking jazz fusion. Inspired by the similar prog rock recommendations thread which has introduced me to quite a few new bands, I thought I’d do the same for fusion. Not a genre I consciously followed (I grew up on prog rock) but my collection of what might be called fusion (we can discuss that as we go) grows and grows. So I’ll list some bands I listen to regularly and folk can fill in the gaps or add recommendations for others to listen to.

    here we go:

    Weather Report
    The Mahavishnu Orchestra
    Return to Forever
    Brand X
    Jaco
    George Duke
    Herbie Hancock
    The Eleventh House
    Snarky Puppy
    Frank Zappa
    Miles Davis
    Billy Cobham
    Pat Metheny
    John McLaughlin
    Chick Corea
    Donald Byrd
    And new to me recently:
    Finely Tuned Elephant

Im sure I’ve forgotten some, so clue me in...

That's an excellent list you started with, I have most of those in my collection.
Off the top of my head, I'll add McCoy Tyner's, Message From The Nile,
with Alice Coltrane on the harp.

But I'll probably add more later after giving this more thought...057912

McCoy Tyner used to be a fave of mine when I worked in a record store in the early ‘90s. Completely forgot about it. That’s the thing with fusion; a lot of it I heard in passing but never owned.

    A masterpiece.

Really though, all of his work is great!
