My son just turned me onto the band Future Islands. Wow... I really like them! Vocals are unique.. Kind of puts me in a "trance". I listened to Cd's before I checked them out on Youtube. I mentioned to my son that I liked the bass. He saw them live a few times so I asked, how was the bass player? He said the front man is so crazy he didn't pay much attention to the bass. lol Sure looks like he plays a '72 P bass just like mine! Anyway, they are coming to Dallas in Sept, going to check them out. Vocals, Bass, Keys and Drums -alan

Yes, great bass sounds. EVERYBODY NEEDS TO SEE THIS. It's surreal. be patient and watch from start to finish.... this was my first experience of them, just happened to tune into Letterman that night!

Been a fan since that 1st appearance on Letterman. I had the TV audio muted while on the phone and this guy just dancing all weird. After the call my curiosity was too much and I had to rewind. Fell in love with the bass playing immediately. I think they are brilliant.

Baltimore band. Used to see them around town, but they broke out after the Letterman appearance. Nice guys, solid playing & singing.

Great bass tones from that band for sure. I like their newest record but the vocals are a limiting factor for me. He has a unique stage presence for sure.

Guess I will have to check them out again. My fiancee and I were flipping channels a few months ago and happened upon a Future Islands concert. Place was packed but the vocals were horrible. The singer kept doing this screechy grunting thing while he was singing and it was painful to hear. What songs would you guys recommend to start?

Pretty sure that's done on purpose. I'm going to guess this band is not going to be your cup of tea.

It's nice to see and hear a lead singer/front man with a unique sound and stage presence. That synth takes up a lot of sonic space; kind of takes me back to the '80s! I liked it!

This video also reminds me of how much I miss having Letterman on TV.

The Letterman performance (dang I sure miss that guy too) was my first experience with them as well.

I like the singer...he doesn't make be feel so bad about my singing...and dancing!
