I spend too much time browsing the web...

Anyone have experience of Bruce Johnson's Ampeg lookalikes?
The long-scale fretless scroll bass looks so sweet...

  2. I have also been eyeballing those for a while. Although I wouldn't buy one, they sure look great! One good thing with these new "reissues" is the fact that the weakest link of the old Ampeg - the hidden "mystery" pickup that really sounded bad - has been remedied by the introduction of a "normal" and slightly more modern one. As they are also handmade, I bet the quality is very nice as well.

  3. Wow. Those do look really good!
I'd love to know how they sound.

I always wondered if Warmoth would do one of those bodies for you. That would make for a fine project.

Yeah, well I'm not going to buy one, but they look really cool. One of the guys in our blues band plays an old Burns Bison, the scroll bass would fit right in. When we do our first TV gig I'll play one... ;)
