G***ar problem- string catching in pickup

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by The Mock Turtle Regulator, Sep 17, 2003.

  1. problem- guitarist in band has an OLP MM1 guitar- sort of EVH copy with 2 X humbuckers-

the high E string keeps getting caught on the top edge of the neck pickup (the pickup bobbin is exposed with just a top plate- there's also the danger that the pickup coil could get damaged).

now, what ways are there of stopping this, apart from the obvious one of lowering the pickup?

  2. Lower the pickup i had the same thing happen to me thats an easy fix

Yea i dont think there is anything else to do about it besides lowering the pickup, thats the obvious fix.

Paul Gilbert puts a piece of tape on the end of the pick up to keep the string from catching. It looks like crap but, I guess it works.
