I need an all-around bass, for playing in my jazz/death-metal/blues/alternative rock (different) bands this summer. I have a sammik fairlane and it just isnt cutting it. i have loosely 1000 dollars to spend(+ or - 300) is the G&L 2500 more of a modern or vintage fender sound? can it do it all with all the passive/active series/parallel switches? would a fender be a better "everything bass"?

IMO the L-2500 is one of the most versatile basses out there. In that price range your best bets for a do-it-all bass are the G&L L-2500 or a MM Bongo HH.

Check out the G&L forum here on TB and you'll be able to find more info.

Good luck and happy hunting :bassist:
