Does anybody know the string width at the bridge on a G&L 2500? TIA
  2. I believe the total string width is 2.75", or 11/16" between each string.

    It's narrower than a 4, but it's not super-narrow like more "modern" 5-strings.

I had one for a while. In fact, I may have actually played out with it about as long as anything I have ever had. I liked it.

11/16" (or 17 mm) is pretty typical for fivers. My Q5 is 17 mm. I find it to be pretty comfortable. At the time I was using the L-2500, My other regular bass was an MIA JD5. It seemed a bit wider than the G&L.

String spacing is a great topic of discussion at this forum, but I recommend that you don't get too caught up in it. I even owned an LB75 (5/8" spacing) and got used to it pretty easily.

If you find a bass that you otherwise like the sound and feel of, you'll adapt to the string spacing more quickly than you think.
