Hey everyone. I recently acquired a beautiful G&L ASAT bass. I'm still working out the kinks but it plays and sounds exactly like my old L2000s (as well it should due to the electronics!)

However its not the greatest on a strap and I remember seeing an extender thing you could attach to your bass. Anyone know where I could get one of those?

They made something for the 3 bolt necks, but I don't believe there is anything for the 6 bolt neck out there...

According to the bbl forum, a guy with the handle ASATMAN used to make those. I did a quick search and there is a person here on TB with that username...dont know if its the same person but it might be:

I don't know if that's the same user either...I remember those, and remember hearing he wasn't around/doing those anymore.
I wouldn't be too hard for any good metal shop to duplicate, given that photo, and, your current neck plate.

yeah it shouldnt be hard to have one made if you couldnt track one down. Those should be offered from G&L IMO.

  12. It was definitely ASATMAN who made them. (location Ohio?)

They were for 3-bolt models only. I bought one from him just before he stopped making them. I think I paid $65-75 for it. Very very nicely fabbed, and fit perfectly.

I doubt one like it could be made for cheap money. Prolly better off paying $100 for a used one. That said, you'd be really lucky to ever see one for sale.

Well, i designed one for the six-bolt ASAT bass. See the Photo below.

I changed the angle of the extension to give you better access to the upper frets. I also rotated the strap button by 90 degrees to allow the strap to move more freely.

Im considering hiring a machine shop to manufacture a batch of them but I wanted to gauge the interest first.

I'd be interested if you made one, or I could always find a machine shop willing to make one.

For those interested, here's a picture of the latest addition.
