I have the chance to pick up a used Asat hollow body for a good price however it has the older 3 bolt neck. Are there any issues I should be aware of with the 3 vs the 6 bolt?

    Thanks

No. I have an ASAT 3 bold neck on my 1998 L2000 and it is the most stable bolt on neck of any of the basses I own.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a 3 bolt neck. With the 3 bolt you get the microtilt which can be handy if used judiciously.

    I say go for it, it's a great bass.:bassist:

  5. My '96 L-1500 fretless has the 3 bolt neck with microtilt and is rock solid. Go for it.

Yeah, even though I did have to get a neck replacement on my ASAT it had nothing to do with the 3 bolt construction. It was a birdseye issue. 3 bolts are just fine.

    Good luck!

    2 G&L basses, 2 G&L guitars (shh, don't tell) with 3-bolts, no issues whatsoever.

Thanks all for your insight. I ordered it and should be here tomorrow. Here's a pic from the shop website.

So you're the one who beat me to it! I almost pulled the trigger on that one yesterday. Talked myself out of it, and when I looked today it was sold.

Congrats, looks like a great axe and if the ad was correct it's super lightweight. Oh, if you decide to flip it I want dibs!

I e-Mailed him an offer on Sunday and he countered Monday and I countered again. I didn't hear from him again 'till yesterday,he accepted and I called and gave him my info. I guess I got lucky for once. Who knows, I've never even seen one in person let alone played one so you may just get dibs.;)
