I've got 2 Tributes, both Indonesian, both serial number 0711xxxxx.
L-2000 has a gold G&L with thin black border*
L-2500 has a white G&L with thin black border
I also have a Korean SB-2 that has a completely different logo, TRIBUTE, G&L, and SB-2 all in solid black.
So your guess what it all means is as good as mine.
TBH I never realised they were different until I checked after reading your post. How they play and sound is far more important than cosmetic details to me.
*Edit - I just remembered that a previous owner applied a USA decal to the L-2000 so forget that one!

absolutely, the knowledge won't won't change my thinking or the bass one iota, but in forumworld pointless minutiae typically results in vast discussion into the absurd and since this actually concerns legit histrionics and visuals which to many are quite important I'm surprised there seems to be a void regarding these varying decals. if there's a discussion somewhere I wanna read it.

I am putting a MIJ Strat, that I bought in 1989 back in my skinny string days, back to standard. It has a white 8 hole single ply pick guard without a bevelled edge. I hacked a big hole in it to fit a bridge humbucker so am searching for the correct replacement.
Our guitarist gave me a suitably aged white single ply guard but it has a bevelled edge and I am obsessing over whether I should carry on searching for one without the bevel. I spoke to him and he said he never worries, he slaps an 11 hole 3 ply on everything because they are less likely to buckle.
New bass arrives Saturday...FedEx, supposedly between 1 and 4. Nice to see it's on one of my days off.
I'll be adding abalone block fretboard markers, abalone topped black control knobs, and I think I'm going with D'Addario black tapewounds.

Picked up a vintage L1505 today. Blue burst with dotless rosewood fretboard. It's 8.5lbs on the nose on the kitchen scale. Fantastic so far..

I scored a 1987 El Toro yesterday. The seller accepted my offer. I played it at apartment bedroom levels and liked the expressivity of the controls. It won't scoop all the way, but enough to get a decent slap tone. If I ever end up slapping. The jazzy growl was intense with both pickups on. The only issue I have is with the wide neck profile. I will see if I get used to it, over the fall practice season. The finish was a bit dinged and it had crackling in the back. The usual headstock dings were there of course, but the "nipple" is intact.

so, have we ever come to a consensus on the output of the LB100 pickups?
my 94 has black pickup covers and the output seems to be not quite that of the sb-2, but definitely in the hot pickup range requiring a bit of an eq shift rom my L2k mid boost settings to avoid od with my tube head

Interesting question! My understanding from way back when is that the LB-100 was not equipped with the MFD pickups and so likely are not as hot as, say, an SB-1. But are they hotter than, say the alnico pickups in the JB-2 basses? ...curious.
