How close can a GL ASAT or L2000 get to a Precision bass and jazz bass tone. I mean the vintage sound like the new Am vintage series has.

i personally play a new american standard P bass. the G&Ls are really near to that sound. if you want a more versatile bass go with one of them, they have an onboard preamp too.

I have g&L L2500. I would say that you can get an almost dead ringer P bass tone by bypassing the preamp and playing the neck PU in series.

The jazz tone is tougher and less authentic. But in addition, you can also dial up about 6-7 unique and usable tones. They are very-well put together also.

I would never hesitate to recommend the L series G&L basses. I have no experience with their other stuff. Although the ASAT has the same tone circuit.
