For you G&L experts, what is the street price for a new G&L L-2500 (ash body, no maple cap) ?

Also, will an L-2500 give you a good "Jaco" sound with the bridge pickup soloed, or does it always sound more like a StingRay? (I'm looking at a fretless one)

    Thanks.

  2. Yeah, it can give you a Jaco-ish sound. There's a switch to select series or parallel operation, and the parallel setting will get you that sound.

I'm pretty sure that all of the L-2500s have a basswood body with a swamp ash cap, but I could be wrong.

Yes, sorry. I meant ash body as is a "not fancy" top. But yes indeed, they are basswood (or "American Tilia" should we say) with an ash top.

You can find some good deals on used G&L on ebay.
