G&L pick up/electronics change

    Has anyone changed out the guts of a G&L before. I'm thinking about putting something new in my L1505... any suggestions?

    I'm looking for something with more low-mid range growl ...

    I'm thinking Barts... but I have no clue about the model or the electronics options...

    Maybe Seymour's..

    Bartolini offers a pickup to replace the G&L soapbar, but it's a special order. I don't think anyone else does.

    FWIW, getting the control cavity shielded a little better would be incredibly important on a G&L. The 2500s and 1505s I've played have all been extremely noisy.

    I've kept the pickups in my L2000E, but replaced the preamp with a U-Retro. All the basic G&L sounds, plus much more flexability. Blend instead of a switch, sweepable midrange. I was also able to keep the series/parallell switch, so it's got a ton of tones now. Very nice.
