Before any of the GLeeks, newb and old, start flaming about how this model doesn't exist, it doesn't. This started life as a first-generation G&L SB-2, and has had a few...alterations... along the way. Originally conceived and created by sanfordandsonny, the body is a 1983 SB-2 in super flamey maple. At one time, somebody had routed it out for a pair of Alembic humbuckers, but Sonnjy's vision was a little more G&L-eeky. A pair of second generation SB-2 MFD split humbuckers were added. Also, and of special note, the controls were changed to a complete, first-generation L-2000 Series E preamp and plate.

Don't think of the word firepower, think more like kill-power...

The original SB-2 neck was replaced with an L-2000 neck from 1996 ( might be a 97 neck, can't remember, and if it is a dealbreaker for anyone, I'll pop it for the exact date.) Rosewood board, correct G&L tuners, stock #7 profile (1-3/4 at the nut, flat around the back), frets are in great shape, a few small doinks, but nothing you can feel or affecting the playability. No ski jump, truss rod is 100%. Fits the neck pocket perfectly.

Bridge is now a chrome unit from 1992- present, neck plate is original to 1983. I purchased the bass from bglosh who had a killer pickguard made for it, and had the battery cover recessed. Schaller straplock buttons.

Full disclosure time- the pickup selector switch was changed eons ago, but I have an era- correct fully functional OEM in my parts drawer. The bridge MFD is currently wired for only parallel operation- a pretty simple fix, but my soldering skills on micro-switches really sucks-, there's a hole through the neckplate for a strap button, pickguard covers most of the holes, but two are still visible, see pics, and for the sonically uptight, a shielding job in the cavity would really quiet this one down. Weighs in at just under 10 lbs. No case for it, sorry, will be packed for war.

Whole bass $625 shipped. Yes, it's worth way more than that in just the parts, but that's what I have into it, and friends don't gouge friends. Paypal only.

TRADES - run 'em by me, worst thing I'll do is politely pass. Small class D amps, ie GK, Genz Streamliner, etc.

    PICS!

    I know what you're thinking...:D

I'll get a shot sans pickguard. If he hasn't changed it, check out sanfordandsonny's avatar, same bass. And for the record, Sonny was not responsible for the act of cruelty/ "When Routers Attack" on the bass. Sayin'.

    PM returned, Bill.

Cleaned up the thread for the mods, too.

Imagine if you could have the best of Leo Fender's genius, all the Sons of Fender in one instrument.....

    ...well.....
