    Hi everybody,

I am looking for a G&L bass. I want to acheive Helmet the bass sound.

There are the L and the M Series and also the equivalent Tribute (not made in US) series in the online shops (no shops in my city sell G&L).

Please give a sound comparison for the G&L L-2000 and the M-2000 series.

Ed Friedland did a comparison of the M2500 and L2500 should give you an idea:

You posted another thread about the Helmet bass sound as well.

G&L did not make M-2000 or Tribute basses back in the 90s.

USA L-2000 is what was used. If you can afford one, go that route. If you can't, there is nothing at all wrong with a Tribute.

    Thank you!
    Merry Christmas :)

OK , on the video I like the L better- it sounds a little bit more charackteristik, warmer and more bassy

I've owned both and would say that the L series is the more aggressive sounding. I currently play an M2000 and prefer the controls. I find it easier to dial in the tone I'm looking for with pickup volume control and three band EQ. You can get there on an L2K, but the switching is less intuitive and finite. Both are well made and rock solid. Either way, enjoy !
