Has anyone got a soundclip or an mp3 of a G&L L2000 or L1000? Ive never heard one and the clips on G&L´s site is not so great. Just a lot of slapbass.

go to my band's website (see my sig) and click on the Aisle 5 tab.
listen to the song samples for the following songs:
    Mr. Cool Guy
    Dirty Little Viking

My former L2000 was used to record those tracks.
Maybe you can get some idea from that.

  3. cool music dude. on 'dirty little viking' i think i hear some Devo influence in the vocals.. :D

Here's something I put together with good intentions but lousy execution:

    some soundclips

The PC recording/processing did not turn out too well and I hope to revisit this after I get my new L2000 (although I won't have a Climax any more).

    Craig, don't be so pessimistic...
Oh, I see. You're talking about the G&L model, not...

    Go to:

Download the track Lie to Me.

Thats the first of my bands songs to go online since I joined. All the other tracks are from before I joined, and we are working on a new sound. Less noise, more music.

Its not my favorite bass sound from the demo, but it does show what a G&L can do.

Ran my G&L L-2500 (With strings that are nearing a year old.) into my Hartke 3500 and DI'd into some other preamps he had in the studio and recoded it like that.

It sounds nice, but Not as nice as the sound I have when I miced my Hartke through my 210 XST.

Ill post when I get clips of that.

EDIT: In case anyone cares Im the one with the beanie and the red shirt.

    I walked right into that one . . .

and to think of the things I could have said:

    - that was my third Climax so far . . . (underachiever/overachiever depending on time period)
    - my wife liked the third Climax best . . . (don't we all)
    - but I'm married . . . (could go either way)
    - while I really liked the Climax at first after a while it began to grate on me . . . (just can't please some people)

probably a good indication of why they changed the name to L-1500
