Since the L-2000 and ASAT have the option of passive, would they sound alright with a z-vex?

i have active and passive basses. my active has that push pull passive thing on it. i use a wooly mammoth (which is what i assume your talking about) with my active basses. it works just great for me and i love the sound. all depends on what yoru going for. id suggest playing one before you buy it.

I will second that: try before you buy. I find that most ZVex stuff gets really squishy and compressed with active basses, and in some cases don't work at all (Fuzz Factory). They are very sensitive to input impedance, so make sure that when you switch to passive it's truly changing your output impedance to high instead of just bypassing the preamp.

Well, i don't have either the g&l or the zvex (g.a.s.), so i guess this is the question which im searching for the answer to.

  5. Does anyone know the answer for this 'question'?

There's no one answer to it, different basses / setups will do the bypass in different ways.
