G&L's serial numbers: CLxxxxx CLFxxxxx

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by pantografo64, Feb 1, 2001.

  1. Is there some G&L aficionados that can tell me when and why CL and CLF prefixes in serial numbers are used (instead of the usual Bxxxxx)?

Thanks, I've already tried on guitarsbyleo.com.

Why not call BBE Sound direct and ask? My only guess, since the FAQ, and the G&L website only document the serial numbers up to 1992, that this has something to do with the changes in the company after 1992. They should be able to tell you.
  3. I found myself an solution, probably.

It seems CLF prefix is used for basses with no plate but with 6 bolts (L-1500, L-2000), serial number is found on the back of headstock.
Three bolts basses (Asat) use the usual B prefix.
    No news on CL.
