I was changing strings last night on my MIM Jazz bass (D'Addario XL 170's) and the G string slipped right through the hole on the bridge when I tried to tune it. I guess the ball of the string was not centered perfectly, but I can't beleive the hole has to be that big. Has this happened to anyone? It might be time for a new bridge... If so, is this something I can put on myself? I would probably get a better quality replacement bridge like a Gotoh. I don't want the extra weight of a B.A. II. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Some strings have bigger balls than others. :bag: That being said, a small washer will fix the problem for now. If you want to change the bridge, check with your retailer to be sure the new bridge screw holes are exactly like the ones on your old bridge or you will have to drill new holes. No big deal either way.
