view of the millenium falcon from one of the windows in the line for the ride, smuggler's run. it's a great ride, btw, a simulator ride like star tours but you're one of six crew members. i went twice, and was the engineer the first time and one of the two pilots the second. remember captain rex from the old version of star tours? he's now dj rex in the cantina. the cantina has a much longer wait than the ride and you need to be on the list to come back and get on the list - it took over an hour and a half, but you could leave and come back. the cantina offers space themed drinks, both alcoholic and non. dj rex spins space style music. the bar and the area over it are very entertaining and like it was made for a movie. here it is facing from the falcon toward the restaurant the millenium falcon - full sized.
this is a ship designed for one of the movies but the director opted not to use it. i hear that during the day kylo ren comes out and yells at everyone, but our reservation was for after dark. if you're a fan of either star wars cartoon series - the clone wars or rebels - you may recognize hondo - he's a pirate and opportunist. alas, my phone doesn't let me spot meter so his face is washed out. this is in the line for the ride and he's giving you the assignment. VERY advanced audio animatronic figure. and so cool to see him "live" after only seeing him as a cartoon character.
I am green with jealousy. While I'm not a huge Star Wars fan overall, I love the way Disney creates those worlds that immerse you. -Mike
I'm a grumpy old fart. I'm neither a Star Wars guy nor am I a Disneyland guy but Rise of the Resistance had me ooh-ing and ah-ing like an idiot. It truly is "next level"!
you must be a patient grumpy old fart. my son and a buddy went last week; they signed up via app at 8 am (by 8:10 am, all passes were given out) and went on the ride just before closing after waiting in a long line after they were texted it was time to come on down. eek!
I went last Monday. We were walking down Main Street at the moment the boarding passes became available. It was bizarre! Everyone was dead silent, staring at their phones then all at once, everyone emitted groans of pleasure as they got their passes. We got backup group 88 but got called at about 5:30. The line was about 20 minutes once we got there.
