Has anyone else noticed the recent big price hike for GK's MB combos and/or know the reason?

    it's not just the combos.

My guess is supplies are running low due to everything being discontinued.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. It seems like the prices really show up of late, but the one that got me noticing was the wee MB-108. I owned one a year ago and remember paying maybe around $125 new. Now GC has it listed at $199 for a he same exact amp. What?

Wonder if international affairs are having an effect on prices? I remember the price spike a few years ago when neodymium got scarcer.

Or is it too soon for that effect?

Yeah. I own a GK 700RB ii and a GK CX410. Bought them both earlier this year for around $1300 total. Just ordered a GK MB212ii last night for smaller gigs and the thing is $1000 on its own. I don't remember it being that much when I was shopping around a few months ago.

Still worth every penny though. ;)

Supply and demand, most likely. GK probably has a well-developed marketing department after so many successful years in business. I'm sure they've done extensive price point analysis to see what will net the most return dollars and market positioning. After all, GK is a business just like any other. ;)

So like I said before all current GK is discontinued, pricing for said gear is going up as it starts to run in short supply. The new gear is shipping this week and as they run out of inventory you will never see another 1001RB, 700RB, or MBF800 etc.... I expect the CX Cabs to remain and they were priced too low to start with. I just purchased two new CX210 Cabs for $600.00 shipped to my door. That is amazing considering these cabs are way better than anything out there at 5 times the cost. It seems GK did some research and figured out you can use a medium duty ceramic driver with the same results as a NEO for wattage, dBs, and weight if the cab construction is right. I figure this out a while ago by installing a set of Eminence Betas in a pair of vintage GK 112 Thiele cabs and they rock and are super light. Plenty of power handling for my MBF500 or 700 RB.

I’m thinking something in the cost of production caused the price increase. I can’t recall other manufacturers raising prices on “last year’s models” just before new models are released.

Did Mesa increase prices on their recently discontinued amps?

I'm thinking there isn't any production.
