It is my belief that GK makes the ultimate rock and roll amps and cabs. I love them. I'm sure some of you have opinions about it. The tone is the best.

I've owned both the 800rb and 1000rb... very cool amps, I kind of wish I still had them.

I have the 1001RB, and it is a spectacular amp!

I agree on the rock thing, however I can get a good quick slap tone out of it as well. Its pretty versatile, has it's limitations, but a great bang/buck factor.

Love GK, but I suspect this will be a long and argumentive thread before it's done.

    I won't use anything else.

    I concur with your concurance.

(GK stuff is pretty good - light, versatile, and has great sound.)

I'm curious if anyone using a Sansamp BDI to warm up the sound?

I played with one for a while, and A/B with my GK, and could make the 400RB and the sansamp sound the same.

So I figured I didn't need the sansamp. I think the GK sounds warm as it is. Not SVT warm, but at least as warm as a sansamp.

That ought to get this rolling...

Yeah, I have used it. But, generally, I use it to create a mean growl with the drive control.

My SansAmp is usually on at all times, just to fatten my sound up a bit.

What would you guys put as the ultimate GK amp? My vote goes to the 800RB. It has been copied so many times that it just has to be the apex. Look at who used it.

I think that makes perfect sense.

Even the 1001RB is kind of meant to get that sound. With the string switch on 4 string, it is supposed to be like the 800. At least that's what the manual says.

Hmmmm.....ok....cool. I'll just keep my SVT CL for that....."the tone is the best":smug:

  19. I think they sound fantastic with jazz. Dave Holland and Ron Carter would agree with me too.

    GK amps are nice.

A very solid and versatile sound. I own a BDDI but as others have said, I could get the GK close fairly easily.

My Backline 600 sits in the closet now, though. I've left it to back-up duty since I got my Genz-Benz GBE600. I should A/B them extensively sometime, as I never really have.
