  1. I have no affiliation with Gamut other than loving their strings.

Wondering if anyone jumped on the deals today. I sat looking at my computer ready to order for about an hour before I realized my musical situation didn't need gut strings. Hope people had a good sale this year.

  3. I sure thought about a Pistoy A, but I'm taking delivery of one of these this month and still need to pay for it! They have sales like this from time to time (I think they had a similar 30% off sale on Black Friday), and I think they are coming out with a new line of bass strings soon. Sign up for their email newsletter and you'll get heads up about sales and things.

I'd like to take advantage of the offer and go for a would E&A to go with the lyons I already have. I understand the silver is slightly brighter than the copper. Does anyone have experience of bowing these strings?

I'm leaning toward the copper as I liked my old garbo set.

The other question I have is about gage. I currently play lyon G&D mediums, I was thinking of going medium+ or heavy but have no starting point to compare to.

Any help greatly appreciated, the sale runs out in the UK in 5 hours..

They are very easy strings to draw sound from arco. They start quickly, have beautiful sound, and a broad palate of dynamics and timbres- much more than steel strings imho.

Thanks. I was really curious to hear if anyone has tried different gauges and what they thought of them

Was going to pick up the Lyon G Light + and Pistoy D Light + but with the sale I picked up the A silver wrap as well. My Garbo E still sounds really good, the D sucks, the G plain gut is ok, and the A still sounds really good but has a winding problem around the Db.

Good luck with the new purchase. I went for medium+ copper E&A and will post a review when they are broken in.

  12. RATS!!!! I was waiting for Gamut to have a sale. I've been wanting to try really good gut strings for a while. I followed them on Twitter and I thought I had signed up for their email newsletter, but I didn't see a thing. I haven't been on TalkBass since the demise of the Phone App until today. :-(

  14. If you have gmail, it might be going into your "promotions" folder. That's where mine go.

I do use gmail. I didn't realize I had a "Promotions" folder. I looked there, but nothing in it from Gamut.

    Thanks, L.
