He told me that all the cool kids were getting them... the new Eden 210 XST.

I'll admit that it was quite a bit over my price range and that I wasn't going for Eden at all, originally. I was planning on getting the Aguilar GS-210 and perhaps a 115 eventually. The idea was a cleaner sound but with some fatness.
However, after a very little amount of convincing, I settled on the XST.
I've fiddled around for about an hour at low volumes and it seriously delivers. It warms up my SWR nicely. It just really handles the bottom end nicely and thusly makes me a happy man. I haven't had it cranked for too long (neighbors)...but the few minutes with the volume at 1:00 shook some leg hairs :). True test will be at practice I guess. Handles the big B of the Lightwave quite nicely. The fact that it's 450 Watts helps in that department too. Joker compared it to the Aguilar GS210 and tone wise, it's the same ball park, but when it comes to volume, the XST wins it (sounds a tad bit fatter in the lows IMO).
Overall so far, I'm a very happy camper and Gard and the boys at BC get another A++. Shipping was almost too fast (waking up by lifting a 70 lb package at 8:30 am is not the best idea  ).
I'm sure this isn't the best review but I just thought I'd share :) .

Gard - I hope the dark secret of my screen name is safe within your hands :D.

How much more does the 210XST cost than the GS210. I'm just curious because I recently bought two GS210's (though I'm not considering changing or anything, just curious).

New - they cost over $100. I believe retail for the GS210 is $799 and the XST is $950.

Huh... did someone say retail??? Who pays retail? :p

    Thanks, that's nice to know.
I spent about as much as I was going to on these GS210's, which btw wasn't anywhere near retail.

I'm not saying I paid retail. It was just to give you an idea of the price difference. You get a MUCH more nicer price if you actually deal with the guys at Bass Central, but the difference in price between the 2 is about the same. I just don't think it would be right for me put out the price I paid for it.
I definitely do not have $950 to put into a 210.
I didn't want to come across as saying that the Aguilars are not worth it either. I still believe they are great sounding cabs and heads.

    Right, I hear ya.
I knew what you meant and didn't think that you (or anyone else woulda) paid retail. I threw that last bit in for Nuttboy311.
I didn't think I should say what I paid either (btw, I got mine from BC also, Grasshopper hooked me up).
Furthermore, I didn't mean to suggest that more than what I paid is too much, it was all about what I could afford at the time (happy with no regrets).
    Thanks again for the info.
  8. FWIW, avoid posting actual prices in public view.

I recently got into hot water with a major vendor because I accidently had their QSC amp prices published in material on my web site. QSC maintains a minimum-advertised-price (MAP). Dealers can sell below this price, but they cannot advertise pricing below MAP.

Gard offers great deals to the bass playing public, but he is probably subject to MAP restrictions. Don't get him or BC into hot water by publishing pricing here.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Also, I didn't want to make anyone feel bad if I had gotten them cheaper than what they paid.

Whenever i see Gard's name attached to a post about new gear, i get thoughts of gear like my little cousins get thoughts of gum drops and sugar plums. :D
  11. Agreed. Talking to Gard is like talking to Satan. "For just the MEASLEY price of, say...YOUR SOUL...you get ALL this and a cup of soup!"

Gard is like a crack dealer for bassists...If you are looking to buy, call him. Great guy and great prices...
    /subliminal voice on

    call him....NOW...

    i am gards best friend.
  13. Stachio -

    I won't reveal anything....yet!

...I'm sure there will be a time though, when I can use it as blackmail material!

Glad you dig the cab, heck the things are makin' me think about lettin' the 410 version go and grabbin' a pair of the 210's instead....AMAZING for a 210.

Mind you, the GS 210 is pretty damn hip too!

    bgavin -

Thanks, I appreciate the concern about posting sale prices. Suffice it to say, I'll do everything I can to help a brother (or sister) TBer out.

    Pete -

Your amp came in yesterday, should have hit Patrick AFB today! I guess from that you can figure out when it's going to be at your doorstep...:D

"Crack dealer for bassists" sounds so bad, I prefer to be thought of as a relationship councilor: Bringing bassists and their gear together into well-balanced and happy relationships. ;)

Oh, by the way - how was the soup? :D

    Pharmecopia -

    DOWN BOY! :p

    Oh the humanity... :D

I'll definitely try to bring it at the next Atlanta bass porn fest. The people need to know.
Is the frequency response and sensitivity similar to the 410 XST ?
  17. Sorry if it sounds bad, Gard, but I think it's more accurate. If we were all happy and well-adjusted with our gear, why would we keep coming back for another fix? :p

Glad to hear the amp is on its way. Can't wait till it gets here!

Yum Yum! Soup is good food! :D
  18. Anybody care to post the sepcs for the 2x10XST???
