GAS Log - Silent Method

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by silent method, Apr 28, 2005.

  1. Hello fellow tber's since joining talkbass I have noticed that I to am falling victim to GAS so I have decided to post and maintain a GAS log where I will show you the bass I am lusting for at that current time. I may post two days in a row or let it go for a month. I'll just post them as I find them. Anyway one day I hope to actually collect all of these gem's but for now I have to settle for pictures. Feel free to comment or post your own GAS.

    Aside from the outrageous fantasy rig stuff, I'd like a Peavey Rockmaster guitar preamp with the footswitch.

    Or, a SansAmp PSA-1.

    I'd also like someone to buy my SVP-Pro so I could get either one, but noooooo.

    My list is too long hehe. Id love to own all of the following if money and practicality were no objects hehe.

    Skjold Exotic Custom Series (This one is actually happening)
    Dingwall Prima Artist
    JP Plume
    CB Bass - This shape, not sure of name: http://www.cbbasses.com/images/b1-041225b1_000.jpg
    Nordstrand NJ Deluxe
    Ritter Roya
    Jerzy Drozd Prodigy L.E.
    Roscoe SKB3006
    F-Bass BNF
    Alembic Balanced K Omega shape w/ Series II
    Carl Thompson
    60's or 70's Fender Jazz

    There's probably a few more, but my tastes being as expensive as they are, no need to keep listing them, Ill be lucky if I ever end up with even 2 or 3 of these in my whole life lol.

    My GAS list is pretty short.

    1) a P or P/J, probably a Read Custom

    2) Conaway drums in black glass sparkle (yea, not bass, but whatever) :)

    cool idea silent method.

    man, I couldn't start thread like this, cause I have so much gas (daily, hourly, secondly...right now), It would mess Paul's bandwidth.

    Well, long as we're heading down that road:

    Yamaha Rydeen 5 piece kit, some Paiste cymbals, and a Yamaha double bass pedal (chain). Starter kit, of course, but still like some drums, regardless.

    I'm trying to only lust after one piece of gear at a time right now, as I am currently stricken with the well know virus Dustis en'walletus.

    Once I can save up enough though, I'm thinking about snagging either the 6 string Warwick Streamer Stage 1, or The 5 string Dolphin Pro. I really like the streamer, but have yet to play the Dolphin, although I hear they have a nice tight low end and nice crisp mids and highs, which is what I'm looking for.
    I'm still trying to find a bass that can produce my ideal tapping sound.

    wait... Pedula. Definately want a Pedula.
    No.. A Zon fretless
    or.. 6 string Jerzy Drozd Prodigy
    umm.. a New Standard La Scala
    or maybe a .. a uh...

    My head hurts. Too much GAS. I have to go lay down for a while.

    1: Sadowsky Standard 59 burst, flame maple top
    2: Zon 519 burl top
    3: Accugroove El Whappo

    GEE- that is the shortest my list has ever been!

    Don't really have any bass GAS, although it would be cool to have a butterscotch natural Gibson RD Artist.

    I would like to get a decent 12 string acoustic guitar.

    I wouldn't mind getting an Acme Low B2 cab and a Thunderfunk TFB 550 head. An EA Wizzy cab would be cool too.

    But the only real GAS that I have is for stompboxes.

    Fulltone Bass Drive, Sparkle Drive, Analog Man Mini Bi Comp, and a Demeter Compulator. At least for today.:D

    Dude you have to enter the posts like Star Trek.

    EX. "Gas Log 65738 I've... found.... something... that we lust.... for."

    Mine is short. Violin Bass, and Elitist EB3. A Rickenbacker would own also.

    I've indulged myself in basses... no GAS there.

    I'm happy with my amps and speakers... not much GAS there, but I'm very curious to hear the Schroeder cabs.

    I'd like to find a nice warm fat fuzzy stompbox. My Ampeg SVP-Pro gives nice fat fuzzy tone, but once it's on it's on, if you know what I mean. That's why I'd like a stompbox. (My SABDDI isn't fuzzy enough).

    I don't think the 10th Commandment says anything specific about not coveting another's bass, so I'd have to say that this Sadowsky (bought by a fellow TBer with exceptional taste) tops my GAS list for basses:

    Spalted Sadowsky

    I usually don't go for the fancy woods, etc., but this bass just blows my mind.

    And as long as we're wishing,
    How about a Mesa 400+ and a Aguilar GS412 while were at it? :D

    Well, you could get a footswitch with a mute function. Then have it come in and out as you need.
  16. semihollow, kinda butterscotch, EB2'ish in shape, dual pickup
    Its all Ima yearning for now. Nostalgia only, I know it is nothing special

    Thanks for the kind words... and if it's any consolation it plays and sounds just as great (if not better) than it looks.

    Anyway, since I'm not allowed to look at any more basses EVER, I'm looking at a concept...

    * SC6
    * Fanned Frets
    * Top Wood: Deep Brown Walnut -or- Spalted with a '51 burst just like the Sadowsky (man, I've become addicted to that look).
    * Pickups : TBD
    * Electronics : TBD

    Sounds great. I'm actually glad you ended up with the Sadowsky. When it was posted on their site, I went through a brief burst of intense GAS, but managed to control myself. I'm a stay-at-home dad with a toddler with severe disabilities and a wife who works 70+hrs./week, so I'm not in a band or going to be in one any time soon. If I'd gotten it, it wouldn't see the light of day, and it wouldn't be played where others could enjoy it.

    However, if I ever win the lottery, first thing I'll do is e-mail you. :D :D :D
