Gassing for a Fender Frankenbass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by micahwc, Oct 30, 2017.

  1. I'm very much considering buying parts online to make a frankenbass.

I'm looking at a Fender Noir P bass body with a red tort guard and a neck from a 70's precision, so maple board with black block inlays. For electronics I'm thinking of a Steve Harris Signature P bass pickup.

Anyone want to show pics of their parts basses?

Body is an MIM with a perfect sunburst finish. Neck & pick guard are 57 RI. Hipshot A bridge. Bartolini 8s pups with a 2.2 AP pre-amp. She is ultra-sweet. Leo would have approved.

Here is my Fender PartsVRI '58 P:

Fender licensed (Mighty Mite) one piece ash body
Genuine MIM Fender P bass neck (2017)
    Revel '58 P pickup
    CTS pots/Switchcraft Jack/vintage cloth wire
Decidedly not vintage Badass II (More than likely going to swap on a bent plate Fender MIM bridge shortly).

I am also planning on snagging the vintage style tuners from Fender at some point to get closer the true 58 P bass. I should get the gold anodized guard but I'm sax a sucker for burst/black PG's... it's like a drug

I have other builds, but they’re more design projects than frankenbasses
