I happen to have an Electronic Audio Experiments Claymore. John had only made seven of them. What is a Claymore? It's his Longsword V2 with a clean blend. The Longsword is an opamp based drive pedal with two gain stages. The Claymore was specifically made with bass in mind.

I messaged with John today. He told me that he's seriously considering a revamped version of the Claymore....however! His intention with the new version is to make it bass preamp with dirt and a DI out...essentially a Sansamp/Darkglass killer. Ask any pedal builder around...John is an incredible engineer. He has had a hand in so many popular designs at this point that it's silly. I'm incredibly excited that he may revisit and revise the Claymore!

And this is where you come in!

In order to make it worth doing he would have to make 100 to 150 pedals. He's not sure if there's enough interest in his design idea to move forward...so my question is, is this something that you would be interested in?

I gain nothing from this other than to purchase one of these if he does go ahead on it. John knows that I'm posting this, but anything I've written are solely my feelings/opinions, not his.

So...what say you? Any interest in a bass specific preamp/dirt pedal from John at EAE?

    Thanks all!

    Ah, yeah!

My Halberd is in my top 5 of all time best sounding pedals on bass.

What makes the Halberd stand out to you? I thought about getting one, but I didn't like the tone stack on the EAE Dagger I had for a bit, so I passed it up.

I’d love to see this from John, he built me an Acoustic 360 preamp pedal when he was just starting EAE and was incredible to work with. Not to mention it is still probably my favorite preamp for bass. If he blended the 360 preamp with the longsword then I would be broke faster than I can say “what?”

Even though I stopped using pedals entirely, I'd still try and grab one of these for a spin because EAE always puts out quality stuff!

Any word if John has got the message that there are people ready to pull out their wallets?

Just based on what I’ve heard from his other pedals I really would consider buying one, even unheard.

No word. I think he's still mulling it over. I believe he'd have to make a large amount to be worth his while, and he's trying to also figure out what exactly to do with it design wise.

His builds look really awesome. I've never gotten to play one but they seem to be well regarded. If the clean blend is low-passed and not full range, I could certainly see it being a great alternative to the Sansamp and Darkglass offerings.

this would be phenomenal. Although I have no need at all, I'd happily grab one. John easily makes some of the best stuff out there.
