So I have the day off work today, here is my latest list of ebay gear that caught my attention:

Akai G-Drive: 7 units in total, both sellers are offering buy it now prices that are reasonable, check it out - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7335734097&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1 and http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7335795063&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

Zoom Ultra Fuzz: as used by TaySte. Check it out, it doesnt look anything like your typical zoom, and apparently its a pretty crazy but useful unit - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7335714315&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

DOD Gonkulator: apparently the incubus guitarist uses this ring mod effect and ebay prices have gone through the roof, but this unit is still at a reasonable price - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7335150301&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

???? preamp/comp/fuzz unit: well this is a home-made job by the looks.. it features a preamp, compressor, and fuzz... it could be one of those "diamond in the rough" type deals or it could be dead useles.. still pretty cheap - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7335218928&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

Tech21 comptortion: seems pretty cheap at $45 US - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41414&item=7336311169&rd=1

Maestro USS-1 Oberheim Analog Synth: wow this thing is truly old school... and it carries that vintage price tag but its certainly interesting to look at. makes a deep impact look cheap.. - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41419&item=7336293032&rd=1

    Aguilar Outboard Bass Preamp: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41411&item=7336218074&rd=1

Digitech modded XP-300 Space Station: apparently this used to be an xp100, but its been modded to full xp300 specs. there have been a few space stations go on ebay for high prices recently.. apparently it gives you some really strange scifi sounds - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41419&item=7336093914&rd=1 and heres an actual xp300 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41419&item=7335861253&rd=1

    VHT Valvulator: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41421&item=7336054957&rd=1

Digitech BASS Whammy: these usually fetch highish prices (for digitech gear), this one is still very low with 1 day to go - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41411&item=7336054947&rd=1

Akai Headrush E2 Delay: apparently quite a good delay with some nice tape simulation, blend knob etc - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41415&item=7335790461&rd=1

    Boss LS-2 Line Selector: $50 US - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=22669&item=7335907422&rd=1

I love you more and more every day xan. Is this the one that Justin Chancellor uses? Also, is it crappy and have mad delay on the octaves? This is just toooooooooooooooo enticing.

EDIT: And another thing, will this skyrocket to like $300 by the time the bidding's over?

Hehe, i just get bored easily so i hunt through ebay looking for some unusual effects and bargains. But since I cant purchase these things myself, I figure the rest of you should get the chance!

RE: Bass whammy, it tends to get mixed reviews. Harmony Central reviews give it a pretty good score: http://www.harmony-central.com/Effects/Data/DigiTech/Bass_Whammy-01.html . but also see some TB'ers comments in these threads:

    http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=179626&highlight=whammy
    http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173484&highlight=whammy
    http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176165&highlight=whammy
    http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174504&highlight=whammy

Some people mention a slight delay but the reviewers on harmony central mostly said it was only slight and hard to notice. Some people also mention a crappy bypass...

RE: Chancelor. I cant personally confirm that he does use one from my own knowledge, but in this thread ( http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188836&highlight=whammy ) - which is one you started :) - it is suggested that he does use the blue bass whammy. Heres a thread from another forum that seems to confirm he uses the blue version (bass whammy 1 as opposed to bass whammy 2 which is black): http://guitargeek.com//chat/showthread.php?threadid=49078

RE: Price. The last few bass whammy's on ebay went for around the $300 US mark:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41419&item=7300682772&rd=1

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41411&item=7313103266&rd=1

I guess you can expect the item at hand to increased markedly, especially given that currently, though the price is still low, there are 4 separate bidders. It goes in your favour tho that the price is still so low at such a late time in the auction. Let me know how it goes!

    Mike

    nice work :)

    Just a few notes:
I had a G-Drive, while it was very versatile I didn't really find many great sounds out of it. Which was a shame, I was really looking forward to it.

The Comptortion sounds amazing on guitar, it lost low end with a bass

Sweet Jesus, I want that Maestro/Oberheim pedal thingy!
I could see Spock busting out a hot solo with one of those. That's outrageous.

well there you go... i suppose what i would be looking for in a g-drive is the ability to find a distortion sound that was somewhat unique, which is difficult to do. if it wasnt capable of a solid unique sound i wouldnt buy it.. can it do that? have you used the hexacomp also?

as for the oberheim giant scifi synth thingy, it looks and probably sounds cool but let lets just say i would have trouble fitting that on the pedalboard ;). and you could get a pretty good brand new bass for the same price!
