View attachment 3455520 View attachment 3455520 View attachment 3455520 Im thinking about getting this but I need opinions or facts on how it would sound being that the bridge pickup is a SD quarter pounder and the neck pickup is stock? Any help would be appreciated, I’m wanting to add one more bass to my collection that has the 70s pickup spacing, this is a 95 MIJ...
    Thank you Kind folks...

It would sound like any other passive jazz bass.

My Geddy is staying as stock as possible, I love the stock pickups.
That being said, It should sound pretty good!

  4. Hey that’s nice...what are they asking for it?

This is true, I guess what I’m asking is how will the 2 different style pickups work together since the SD is hotter than the stock,..

The stock pups in my Geddy are actually hotter than the QP's I put into my Aerodyne

This is just ridiculous, but you did manage to get the second post in the thread, so congrats on that.

To me, the GL's of that era sound a little thin, not unusual for a lot of the MIJ Fenders. I would expect that the SD pickup would have more ooomph and I am not at all sure that it would match too well with the stock pickup. But, you could always replace the stock pickup with another SD pickup and you would be good to go.

What's ridiculous? Do you think you'd be able to tell without looking that this bass has a different bridge pickup? That sounds ridiculous to me. More BS than worthy of ridicule really.

  13. There's no such thing as a 1995 Geddy Lee. The first year of production was 1998.

  15. I have two Geddys, a black 03 and 2016 3tsb. They both sound amazing with the stock pickups. They are fender original Mia pickups. It’s the whole package that gives the bass the distinct tone and high end growl.
Besides the 70’s pickup spacing, a lot of the tone comes from the neck and some from the bridge. The thin glossy neck really brings out the snappy growl.

  17. I put a set of the fender '74's in mine, and I really like the tone. The original pickups were shot in the one I have, so I tried a few different sets before settling on those.

The quarter pounders are pretty thick and ballsy sounding, with a lot of girth and growl. More of a dark growl, if you will. A cool sound, and definitely thickened up the sound of that 70s bridge pickup. A cool sound but not what I was after. The 74s are thinner, more like a stock mid 70's Jazz. Mine is a crafted in Japan, I'm unsure of the year.
