Geddy Lee Jazz tone sounds like mud

    Have had my GL j bass since new in 09 and on my 3rd set of Pu's and can't seem to get clear tone. 1st set stock up, 2nd set Mod shop SCN noiseless, 3rd set DiMarzio Ultra Jazz.

    Any comments, suggestions are appreciated. Just can't seem to get a mid range punch or clarity. Even trying either amp or sansamp boost in mid range no help. Bad wiring job or faulty pots?? Frustrated

    Did you do the work yourself? What kind of settings are you using both on your bass and amp? Mine will soon be upgraded but I can get mine to work well stock. I really never understood how many complaints there are about the GL's and their Pups. We have volume, gain, treble, bass, mid controls on our amps. Take it to a reputable tech and have him work it out.
