Geddy Lee Wiring for J-Retro

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Eddy Flycatcher, Jul 25, 2012.

  1. I know, I know the wiring on a Geddy is the same as on a 75 Vintage reissue, but still I have a question about it...
How do I know which black wire is from the pup and which one's from the pup shield? They're both black!
I am about to install a J-Retro, and I have to connect 1 of the black wires next to the white one for the pups....
By the way, all the black ones are soldered to the front pot...(ground)

Oh, and should I solder the ground wires to the ground wire of the J-Retro or just crimp them together?
  2. I've read in an interview that Geddy Lee's J-Bass has a wiring problem that he didn't get changed, because he loved that sound so much. If it can help..
